WHY WE DON'T 'PARTICIPATE'
NOTE: You may be entitled to out of network benefits from your insurance carrier.
The majority of insurance companies are in business to make a profit, not provide health care. Policies usually help with at least some of the expense of our "sick" care. Few policies pay for things that help us keep our health. For example: Many policies will pay for expensive back surgeries, but won't pay for a program of ongoing chiropractic care that costs less, and that actually helps prevent back surgeries. And that's just the start. Some policies will help you with your chiropractic care when you have an obvious ache or pain (the acute stage of care), but cut off benefits before muscles and ligaments supporting your spine can fully heal, predisposing you to a relapse (and us to a non-satisfied client). Most insurance plans do not cover the soft tissue work or the nutritional supplements that some patients absolutely require in order to clear hurdles as they heal.
We continue to see increasing premiums for less service along with more paperwork, denials and red tape. Each year insurance companies expect clients to pay more and doctors to receive less, so they can make a huge profit. Insurance companies also retain the right to not pay, even though coverage may have been approved. Patients in the past have been left owing thousands of dollars they thought the insurance company would cover, making for piles of stress that could have easily been avoided. Medical doctors and chiropractors alike have stopped participating in insurance networks for these reasons. Dr. Robin aims to see health care put back in the hands of clients and their physicians, rather than those of the insurance companies.
Our solution for this issue is affordable family health care, with all inclusive fees that can be paid for before you leave the office. When your family is under care, we offer package deals to make it extremely affordable for everyone to get the health care they need. If you have insurance, we provide you with documentation to file with your insurance carrier for out of network benefits to which you may be entitled. It is well worth a call to your insurance company to find out more about this process, which is often very simple, and yields good results for our patients!
WHY WE DO RECOMMEND SOME KIND OF HIGH- DEDUCTABLE INSURANCE
We do encourage all of our clients to purchase some type of health insurance to protect them from financial trouble if an emergency or hospitalization is required, so called "catastrophic" insurance. These health plans are known as high-deductable policies and can be purchased for a few hundred dollars a month or even less. They usually have a $2000 to $4000 deductable but cover fully after that amount has been reached, keeping your medical expense from leading to financial ruin. These plans also work well with health care savings accounts which allow you to save money tax free to be used as you see fit for health care purposes.
In Massachusetts, everyone is required to have health insurance, which is best to use when there is an emergency or accident. Did you know that people under regular chiropractic care actually have fewer hospitalizations, take fewer medications, and have a higher quality of life, than those who do not? Long term studies have been done in order to determine if there is any benefit of ongoing chiropractic care, and there is. In the long run, it costs less for a wellness plan in a chiropractic office (generally once a month) for a year, than for one hospital visit. When you want to invest in your future, and your health for the rest of your life, chiropractic is by far the best choice to make.
PAYMENTS ACCEPTED
To help keep fees reasonable (by reducing costs), fees are collected after every visit.
Credit cards are accepted, as well as cash and personal checks.
At Road to Wellness, we're convinced that a small amount of your time and money to care for your most important asset--your health--will be far less time consuming and expensive than trying to recover it. If you feel you do not have enough time or money to take care of yourself, please contact us--we can help! The last thing we want is for you to come to us in crisis. It's much less taxing (on the body, the doctor and the wallet) to do a tune up versus a complete 'body job'! So please, we would like to encourage you to take your health very seriously. As the old saying goes, if you don't have your health, you don't have anything. Unfortunately, too many people don't discover how true that statement is until it is too late.
Stay healthy, stay well, and call Dr. Robin with any questions or concerns you may have!
